Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway

Welcome to "God's Country"

Gateway Museum is a project of Sangre De Cristo Communities​ Interacting, a non-profit 501(c)3, located in Northern New Mexico on US64.  Coming from the east it is a gateway to the Village of Eagle Nest which is located on the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway.

Gateway Museum is located immediately North of Eagle Nest Lake on US64.  We have a clear view of Eagle Nest Lake which is perfect for watching fireworks on the 4th of July.

Eagle Nest Dam

Eagle Nest Dam

Construction of Eagle Nest Dam began in 1916, continued until 1918, an​d was considered the largest privately built dam in the United States. The dam was constructed by laborers from the nearby Taos Pueblo, contains no reinforcing steel, and sits between two granite walls. The resulting lake is known as Eagle Nest Lake.
